Fresh and Youthful Makeup Tutorial for Teens

We’ve all probably seen that one makeup that looks so good, blending seamlessly with the skin and, above all, looks all-natural.

Piling on makeup every morning isn’t exactly realistic, except, of course, you do some serious sleep schedule. But who says looking put-together requires hours in front of the mirror?

While you might have all the time you need to layer on one makeup product on the other, a natural makeup look can be your best bet for everyday wear. This is because it enhances your natural features without feeling heavy or cakey, perfect for work, errands, or just running around town.

So, if you want to join the makeup train, without having to do too much, here are a few tips on how to go about it.

Natural Makeup Look for Everyday School Wear; Tips for Subtle Enhancements

Create a clean base by prepping

Flawless makeup starts with a clean and moisturized face, and prepping your skin before applying makeup makes a significant difference.

So before you start with that foundation, make sure to wash your face with your favorite cleanser and apply a moisturizer suitable for your skin type. This will create a smooth base for your makeup to adhere to and prevent it from looking dry or patchy.

Note that a mattifying moisturizer can help control excess oil and shine throughout the day if you have oily skin.

Foundation is not a must

The beauty of natural makeup is that foundation is entirely optional! Now, I know that may sound too minimalist but it’s a fact, although it often depends on how good your skincare is.

You can skip using foundation altogether if you have even-toned skin and minimal blemishes. However, a tinted moisturizer or a light-coverage foundation may be your best bet if you want a little more coverage for unevenness or redness.

Apply this in thin layers, starting with areas that need more coverage, such as areas with blemishes, redness around the nose, or dark circles. But while doing this, remember to blend properly. You can either use a damp beauty blender or a buffing brush to avoid harsh lines and create a seamless finish.

Blend in some concealer

Dark circles under your eyes can definitely ruin a perfect look, so applying concealer can work wonders here.

However, I must add that looking natural is the goal. So avoid using concealers that are several shades lighter than your skin tone. Instead, use a shade that matches your skin tone exactly or a shade that’s just slightly lighter to brighten the area.

Apply a small amount of this in a triangular shape under your eyes, with the point of the triangle towards your nose, then blend it all in perfectly. Also, blend it outwards and upwards towards your temples, as this technique can help lift and brighten the entire eye area, making you look more awake and refreshed.

Do little with the brows

Great brows can truly transform your face. They can frame your features and add some definition. However, not everyone has that perfect brow size and shape.

If you’re lucky enough to have naturally full brows, you might need a brow gel or a spoolie to keep them in place and brush away stray hairs. But if you have sparser brows, a brow pencil or powder can really help give them a fuller and yet natural effect.

To do this, use light strokes on your brows, but be sure to mimic the direction of your natural hair growth for a more natural look. Also, avoid shading the beginning of your brows, as this can ruin the natural look.

Eye Makeup

For natural eye makeup, everything is about keeping things soft and shimmer-free. Certain colors may not work here—red, blue, or purple. Instead, use neutral eyeshadow shades like taupe, beige, or light brown.

Also, when applying the eyeshadow, you only need to go in with a little product. So gently apply a light wash of color all over your lid and blend it upwards into your crease while ensuring no harsh lines.

You can also use a slightly darker shade to define the crease for a subtle depth but remember to keep things light and natural.

For the eyeliner, particularly the inner liner, well, let’s say it’s entirely optional. But if you choose not to skip this step, that’s okay too.

To apply the eyeliner, line the waterline of your lower eyelid to add some definition. You can also line the outer corner of your upper eyelid for extra definition, then finish the look with a volumizing or lengthening mascara in brown or black, depending on your preference.

If you choose to go without eyeliner, you can just draw a thin line applied close to your upper lash line with a brown or dark grey pencil. This can enhance your eyes without looking too dramatic.

Touch up with some blush and gloss

A touch of blush adds a healthy flush of color to your face, making you look all radiant and pretty.

You can try using a cream or liquid blush, as these are easier to blend for a natural look and melt seamlessly into your skin. But keep in mind that this is another aspect where you need to know your skin tone.

Pinks and peaches are your best bet for cooler tones, while rosy mauves or berries complement warmer tones beautifully. Apply a small amount to the apples of your cheeks and blend outwards towards your temples in a circular motion.

To finish up the look, keep your lips hydrated with either a tinted lip balm or a lip gloss. If you prefer using lipstick, try ones in a natural shade like pink, peach, or nude.

Before you go…

Let me add that the key to natural makeup is to enhance your natural beauty, not mask it. I, for one, believe that makeup is meant to improve what you already have, and not change or conceal it. So try stepping out more with a natural glam.

No doubt, you may not be able to master the process immediately, however, with a little practice, you’ll be a natural makeup pro in no time, ready to greet the day with a fresh and confident look.
