Today, I bring you two amazing powder products, both in a class of their own! While the Mac Mineralized compact powder is usually referred to as a high end product, the Milani compact powder has been noted to be more middle range and budget friendly.
A couple of my friends and colleagues in the make up world swear that the Milani compact powder is a suitable dupe for the Mac Mineralized powder. However, is this really true? I mean, do these powder products give the same effects/ offer similar benefits?
These are the questions I intend to answer with this post by taking each powder one at a time and giving you my sincere opinion from my experience with them.
Let’s commence with the high end product, shall we.
The Mac Mineralized compact powder
Now, in my opinion, products from the Mac lineage are usually regarded as luxury quality. I own a couple of their products ranging from the ruby woo red lipstick, to the Mac Studio fix foundation and even their prep, prime and fix it spray. Trust me, these products certainly don’t disappoint. Today’s review is however focusing on their compact mineralized powder.
Appearance
This powder comes in a sleek black pack with just enough words written on it, such as the name of the product, the ingredients contained in the product, and the powder’s finish.
This product has a net weight of 10grams/ 0.35 US oz and comes with a powder puff for ease of application which I barely use. It is a high end product which currently retails for about 34 pounds.
Perfomance
This skin finish powder comes in an all encompassing shade of 15, ranging from Light to dark deepest/ sun power
Illd quickly list out all the shades from the lightest to the darkest shade.

I got the c12 in Dark deep and I feel it is an exact, gorgeous fit. So this powder differs from your regular pressed powder in the sense that it has a shimmer/ glow effect to it.
It isn’t heavily packed and you could always build to any finish you desire. Sometimes it’s almost not noticeable at first application as I need to go a second time. In other words, it does not feel heavy and could be used as an everyday powder. It however gives the bronzing/shimmer effect when used.
It holds considerably well with make up, especially when paired with the Mac Studio fix foundation.
Ratings
Illd give this powder a solid 7.5 out of 10 considering the shimmer and glow effect it gives and longevity when used, however I do feel it is quite pricy! You could absolutely go for it though if it is within your budget.
Milani Compact powder
Now, I feel like this powder is in a class of its own! I mean it’s not easy to be a middle range/lower budget product and still get compared with high end products such as Mac! Illd tell you why this product deserves recognition but first let’s commence with its appearance.
Appearance
This powder comes in a compact golden powder case as can be seen in the pictures above, and opens into to 2 layers. The first layer is the layer with the actual powder product, and the second layer is where the powder puff and small mirror can be seen.
This product has a net weight of 9g and is said to be vegan. It is a pressed brown powder with a matte finish and full coverage. It currently retails for about 20 pounds.
Performance
This amazing powder comes in 3 gorgeous colours namely the 108 medium, 109 warm and 110 deep.
It is said to be a full coverage powder that corrects the skin and disguises dark circles, imperfections and even scars. It is also presumed to be a weightless product that is richly pigmented and blendable, creating a flawless matte finish.
However does the Milani compact powder live up to its promises?
I would say YES!!! A thousand times over! It is one of the best face powders I possess and I would even go as far as saying that I prefer it to the high end MAC mineralized powder.
It does hide blemishes with its full coverage and feels super smooth on the skin. The best part about this powder is that, you could use it comfortably without a foundation and you would still slay!!
Ratings
Of course, you already know that this rating is about to be high! I rate this product a solid 9 out of 10. It’s a product that never goes out of stock in my box fam!
In conclusion, though both powders are great, the Milani powder would definitely win the powder battle over the Mac powder as far as I am concerned. That’s all folks! I hope this post has been insightful. Ciao.
