ACT II SCENE 1
SETTING: Dr BANJO’s office is furnished with a big table and consulting chair, well lit with a big sofa at
a corner of the office and neatly arranged files on the shelf.
AT RISE: Dr BANJO is busy with paper work when his secretary enters into the office.
TIMI’s Secretary
Sir, Miss SCOTT is here to see you
TIMILEYIN
Oh! Yes please let her in
TIMI’s Secretary
Ok Sir
(BIMPE walks in while the secretary exits)
BIMPE
Hello Dr BANJO
TIMILEYIN
Hello, it is nice to see you
BIMPE
Same here, I hope there is no problem, you asked to see me urgently
TIMILEYIN
Nothing too serious really, How is WUNMI?
BIMPE
She is fine
(Quite anxious)
Is there something you noticed during her last consultation
TIMILEYIN
Take it easy I promise everything is fine
BIMPE
Alright, so what do you want to discuss with me?
TIMILEYIN
I want to refer WUNMI to another colleague for her follow up visits.
He is equally competent, he is Dr WILLIAM
BIMPE
Why?
This is sudden there must be a reason for the decision
TIMILEYIN
I am relocating
(stutters)
BIMPE
You don’t sound convincing
Are you sure everything is fine?
I hope you are not in any kind of danger?
You know TIMI, apart from being WUNMI’s psychiatrist we also regard you as a friend.
If there is any problem whatsoever, please share, we just might be able to help with a solution.
WUNMI has gotten super fond of you and she would be unhappy that you are referring her to a colleague.
TIMILEYIN
Trust me there is no problem I am relocating for the sake of my daughter I want her closer to her late mom’s family.
BIMPE
Ok
I wish you the very best but please stay in touch. Thank you for helping WUNMI pull through , God bless you.
I would appreciate the contact address of the doctor we are being referred to.
TIMILEYIN
Sure, no problem
BIMPE
Ok thank you
TIMILEYIN
You are welcome
(BIMPE exits the room)

ACT 11 SCENE 2
SETTING: DR WILLIAM’s office/reception
AT RISE: A receptionist is well dressed and sitted at the reception desk while DEWUNMI and BIMPE
sit at the waiting area.
DEWUNMI
I still don’t understand why TIMI left without saying goodbye. He made it even worse by referring me to another physician.
BIMPE
I already explained this severally, he had to relocate for his daughter’s sake. Besides, he sent his apologies. Give Dr William a chance, you just might just be happy he referred you to him.
DEWUNMI
I seriously doubt that
(The receptionist gets off a phone conversation and ushers DEWUNMI into the doctor’s office while BIMPE stays behind)
DEWUNMI
Thank you
(At another portion of the stage DEWUNMI walks into Dr WILLIAM’s office; a typical consulting room with chairs and tables)
DR WILLIAM
Good day Miss FALADE
DEWUNMI
Good day Doctor
DR WILLIAM
You may sit
DEWUNMI
Thank you
DR WILLIAM
I would like to assure you that Dr BANJO has given me a detailed brief on your medical condition and management guidelines.
DEWUNMI
Ok
DR WILLIAM
How are you today?
DEWUNMI
I am fine
Dr WILLIAM
Have you been regular on your medication?
DEWUNMI
Yes I have, although I have noticed this drastic weight gain since I started those medications, I feel the drugs make me hungry.
Dr WILLIAM
Not to worry, some of my patients on the same meds have made similar complain. I would switch your to another one that is equally good with minimal side effects.
DEWUNMI
Alright Doctor
Dr WILLIAM
Is there any other complain or perhaps something you would like to talk about
DEWUNMI
No
Dr WILLIAM
Ok I would see you in the next two weeks
(Hands her the appointment card)
DEWUNMI
Two weeks is rather short why not a month?
Dr WILLIAM
I just changed one of your medications it would be safe to assess you in two weeks to see how you are adapting to the new drug.
DEWUNMI
Alright
Dr WILLIAM
See you in two weeks
(DEWUNMI exits Dr WILLIAM’s office to meet up with BIMPE at the reception)
BIMPE
So how was he?
DEWUNMI
(Frowns)
I don’t like him much, he is quite old and unfriendly. He listened to my complain though. I hope I would cope fine with him eventually.
BIMPE
Oh WUNMI
(Laughs)
Just be patient I am sure you would get along with him just fine
DEWUNMI
I pray so
(Rolls her eyes)
BIMPE
Ok! Let’s have lunch at Livies
I am famished
(They both exit the reception)

BIMPE
When do you start work?
DEWUNMI
Well, I told the company to give me two weeks to settle down and sort out my accommodation before resuming.
BIMPE
Alright, that is good
Enjoy the time you have left before work starts, don’t be too boring, please go out and make new friends
DEWUNMI
(Laughs)
I would try
I miss you already
BIMPE

DEWUNMI
I have to go now BIMMS, I think I have my first visitor.
Talk to you later
BIMPE

(DEWUNMI opens the door to a teenage girl)
LOVELYN

LOVELYN
My name is LOVELYN
I stay next door
I watched you move in yesterday
DEWUNMI
Nice to meet you neighbor
(Smiles)
My name is DEWUNMI
Are you just here to welcome me?
LOVELYN
Well, I would also like to borrow a cup of sugar
(Smiles mischievously)
Can I come in?
DEWUNMI
Yes you can
(LOVELYN enters the living room and looks around before taking her sit)
Why is a pretty girl like you not in school?
LOVELYN
We are on midterm break
DEWUMI
Oh! OK
Are you home alone?
LOVELYN
Yes I am
Dad has gone to work but he left a number to call
in case of emergencies
DEWUNMI
What about Mum?
Did she also leave an emergency number?
LOVELYN
Well, I don’t know my mother
I didn’t get to meet her
She died years ago
It’s just dad and I
DEWUNMI
I am sorry about that
LOVELYN
It’s no problem I have always wondered what it would feel like to have a mum
I figure it must be fun to have one
What fun things did you do with your mum growing up?
DEWUNMI
We are quite similar
I never knew my mum either
LOVELYN
(Sighs)
Oh well! It was nice meeting you
(Stands)
I have to go now Dad would be home soon
DEWUNMI
What about the cup of sugar?
LOVELYN
Never mind it is not important anymore
LOVELYN

DEWUNMI
